2 pkt yeast
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbl salt
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup warm water
6 cup whole wheat flour, (6 to 7)
Instructions:
Instructions: Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water; stir in sugar, salt and shortening.

Add 2 1/4 cups warm water and 3 1/2 cups flour and beat until smooth. Mix enough flour to make dough easy to handle and turn onto a floured board.

Knead about 10 minutes until elastic. Place in greased bowl and turn over, greased side up. Cover and place in warm place, about 1 hour.

Punch down and divide in half. Roll into rectangle, 18x9-inches and roll up beginning at short side, with side of hand to seal. Fold in under loaf and place in pan seam side down. Cover and let rise until double. Place on low rack in oven so that top of bread is in center of oven. Bake until dark golden brown: brush top with melted butter.
