Instructions: Sift the icing sugar onto the ground almonds. In an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until half risen, add the caster sugar and beat on high for 1-2 minutes until very stiff.
Sprinkle the icing sugar and ground almonds over the egg whites and fold through gently with a spatula. Fill a piping bag with the mixture and pipe out small, even-sized rounds,about 2cm diameter onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Space about 2cm apart. Bake at 190C/380F for about 10-15 minutes until golden. Allow to cool then lift off tray. Macaroons are sweet French biscuits with a crisp meringue like texture. Email this Recipe:
