Instructions: Grind raisins and peanuts. Combine flour, baking powder, spices and salt; cut in shortening. Add sugar, oatmeal, raisins and peanuts; mix well.
Dissolve baking soda in sour milk; add to dry ingredients. Combine and add molasses and 1 beaten egg. Refrigerate 1 hour. Shape dough into walnut-size balls on greased cookie sheet. Press down slightly with fork. Beat 1 egg and paint tops of the cookies. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Makes about 8 dozen. Email this Recipe:
