3/4 cup flour
2 tbl cornstarch
1/2 tbl salt
2/3 cup softened margarine or butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 tsp crushed anise seed
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/2 pkt dry active yeast
Instructions:
Instructions: In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch and salt. Cream butter and shortening, add sugar. Mix in with flour mixture, add anise and pecans. Dissolve yeast in warm water evenly. Preheat oven to 350*. Blend dissolved yeast to flour mixture to make a soft dough. Form dough into a roll and cut in half. Cut 12 cookies from each roll. Round cookies out and flatten a bit. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen.

Barb Says: These are another one of my Dads favorites. My Mom loves Pecans but wont touch these because of the anise in them. Black licorice lovers will enjoy these. Put them in baggies and tie with a pretty bow for CHRISTmas giving!
