Instructions: To make the crust:
In a food processor, blend together the flour, butter, and sugar until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the egg and mix together until the mixture just forms a soft dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out into an 11-inch round and carefully fit the round into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable fluted rim. Set aside. Preheat oven to 375 F. To make the almond mixture: In the food processor, finely grind the almonds with the sugar. Add the butter and egg and blend until smooth. Spread the mixture evenly in the reserved crust. To make the apple mixture: Arrange the apple slices on the almond mixture and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the crust is golden. Let cool on a wire rack.
