3 cup soft bread crumbs
1/3 cup melted butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp grated lemon peel
2 tbl lemon juice
2 cup peeled and thinly sliced cooking apples
2 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
1/4 cup water
Instructions:
Instructions: Makes 4 to 6 servings.

Note: If fresh blackberries arent available and you dont want to use frozen fruit, two additional cups of sliced apples may be substituted for the blackberries. Toss bread crumbs with butter. Set aside.

Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, lemon peel and lemon juice in mixing bowl. Add apple slices and blackberries and gently fold to combine.

Spread a third of the bread crumbs in buttered 2-quart casserole. Cover with half of fruit mixture, then another third of the bread crumbs. Repeat layering, using remaining fruit and bread crumbs.

Drizzle with water. Cover and bake at 400 degrees 30 minutes. Uncover and bake additional 30 minutes until lightly browned. Serve warm with heavy cream, whipped cream or ice cream.
