Instructions: Peel, core and slice apples thin and place in a buttered pie dish with sugar, apple juice, treacle, calvados, cinnamon and cloves.
*TOPPING: Rub butter into flour until mixture is crumbly, add brown sugar, almonds and coconut. Mix well. Sprinkle over apples. Bake about 1/2 hour in a moderate oven (350F/190C) until lightly browned. Cooking time varies with depth of fruit and crumble. If you like a lot of crumble, double topping ingredients.
