Ingredients:

500 gm apples, Granny Smith
3 tbl apple juice
1 tbl brandy
2 tbl sugar (caster)
1 tsp golden syrup
1/10 tsp cinnamon, ground
3 x cloves
----------------- TOPPING: ----------------
1/2 cup flour, self-raising
100 gm unsalted butter
3 tbl coconut
2 tbl brown sugar
Instructions:
Instructions: Peel, core and slice apples thin and place in a buttered pie dish with sugar, apple juice, treacle, calvados, cinnamon and cloves.

*TOPPING:
Rub butter into flour until mixture is crumbly, add brown sugar, almonds and coconut. Mix well. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake about 1/2 hour in a moderate oven (350F/190C) until lightly browned. Cooking time varies with depth of fruit and crumble.

If you like a lot of crumble, double topping ingredients.

Other fruits such as plums, rhubarb or apricots may be used.
