Instructions: Preheat oven to 350F. Grease an 8" square pan on bottom. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together; set aside. In double boiler, melt butter and chocolate together over medium heat. Remove from heat and add sugar and applesauce. Beat in eggs one at a time. Blend in vanilla and dry ingredients; stir in pecans.

Pour into prepared pan. Spread evenly. Bake 35-40 mintues, until done as desired. Let cool. Cut into squares or bars.
