1 cup Regular oats
2/3 cup Flour
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp Salt (optional)
1 cup Nonfat milk
1/4 cup Maple syrup
1/4 cup Orange juice
)or apple juice
1 lrg Egg
3 lrg Egg whites
3/4 cup Tart apples -- finely chop
1/2 cup Raisins
Butter or margarine
Instructions:
Instructions: 1. Spread oats on a baking sheet; toast in 350 oven, stirring occasionally, until golden (12-15 minutes). Mix oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and if desired, salt in a large bowl. In a medium sized bowl, beat milk, syrup, juice, egg and egg whites until blended. Stir in apple and raisins. Add egg mixture to flour mixture; stir until evenly moistened. 2. Preheat a waffle iron following manufacturers directions. Grease iron; fill three-quarters full of batter. Bake until golden and crisp (6-8 minutes). Transfer to a plate and keep warm in a 200 degree oven while making remaining waffles.

Offer with butter and syrup.

Makes about twelve 4- inch square waffles.
