one batch pie crust
8 cup peeled baking apples cored, and sliced
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
5 tbl butter or diet margarine melted
Instructions:
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heavily butter an 11 x 7 inch baking dish.

Roll the dough out 1/4 inch thick and cut into 1/2 inch strips. Spread the apples along the bottom of the dish and drizzle with the maple syrup. In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar and spices. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture on top of the apples. Lay the pastry strips over the apples in a latticework and brush with the butter. Bake for 1 hour, or until the apples are soft and the crust is golden brown.
