1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 x unbaked 9 inch pie shell
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
6 cup thinly sliced tart apples
2 tbl butter or margarine
----------------- CRUMB TOPPING: ----------------
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/3 cup sifted flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
Instructions:
Instructions: Make pie shell as above, using only half the recipe. Sprinkle pecans on bottom of pie shell. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, flour and spices with apple slices. Heap apples into pie shell.

Dot with butter or margarine. Top with crumb topping (see below).

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then turn down oven to 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

CRUMB TOPPING:
Blend sugar, butter, flour and cinnamon with fork until the mixture forms balls the size of peas. Stir in pecans.
