6 x crisp eating apples
1 x juice of 1 lemon
50 gm amaretti biscuits about 8
100 gm plain flour
25 gm soft brown sugar
1/2 x level tsp ground cinnamon
75 gm softened butter
Peel quarter core and thickly slice the apples.
Toss in the lemon juice.
tip into an ovenproof dish.
Roughly crumble the amaretti.
Mix with the flour sugar and cinnamon. Rub in the butter until crumbly and just beginning to hold together.

This takes about 45 minutes.

If after about 20 minutes in the roasting oventhe top is browning too much either cover with foil or slide in the cold shelf. The apples should be soft when prodded.

This is a slightly unusual crumble the amaretti biscuits provide an almond flavour with a slightly different texture. Eating apples have been used which means that no extra sugar is needed and they cook until soft but still holding their shape.
