Instructions: On Friday, September 29, when the celebration of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) begins, Jewish people around the world will toast the new year by munching on sweet apples dipped into even sweeter honey. Just thinking of the bewitching goodness of honey-dipped apples teases our taste buds! And as images of fresh apples dance through our minds, we cant help but think up exciting ways to showcase this years apple crop on our dining room tables.

* For a quick breakfast pick-me-up, mix warm, delicious apples into your cereal. Cut the core out of an apple, and then drop a teaspoon or two of butter into the apple along with a pinch of cinnamon. Cover and microwave it on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Chop the apple into bits and mix it in with your cereal, or eat the fruit all by its lonesome.

* Apple salsas add something special to an otherwise average meal. Make apple salsa by dicing apples and combining them with other fruits and a juice that youve got around the house. Raisins, pears, dried cranberries and nuts are excellent additions. Serve the salsa over roasted or baked chicken, pork or veggies and rice. The salsa can also be rolled into chicken or pork and baked - delicious!

* Applesauce is the perfect low-fat baking alternative to oil and other fats. Homemade applesauce cookies, cakes and brownies are moist and delicious!

* Make an apple pizza! Apples, cheese and bread go great together, so why not make a meal of em? Sprinkle cheese and thin slices of apple on a French bread crust (or pre-made pizza crust) and bake it until the cheese melts. Who says apples and pizza werent made for each other?

* Stuff an airtight baggie full of apples and cheese in your childs (or your own) lunch sack. The combination of fresh-tasting apples and protein-rich cheese is a great way to boost energy while satisfying a craving.
