Instructions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place butter in an 8-inch square baking dish. Place baking dish in oven and melt butter; remove from oven. Stir oats, sugar and flour into melted butter; mix well. Bake mixture until oats are toated, about 12 minutes, stirring mixture twice while baking. While oat mixture is baking, combine apricots, dates, and orange juice in a 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, about 8 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat. Place pan ina large bowl of ice water, and stir mixture until it is slightly cooled, about 5minutes. Remove 1/3 of oatmeal mixture from baking dish and set aside. Press remaining oatmeal evenly on bottom of pan. Spoon apricots and dates evenly over crust, spreading carefully. Sprinkle with reserved oatmeal. Serve warm with "rice" cream or frozen yogurt.
