Ingredients:
Amount Ingredient
1 cup Barley
1/2 cup Dried Lentils Green Or Red
6 cup water
2 med onions diced
1 tbl olive oil or sunflower
1 tbl Dried Mint Flakes or parsley
1/2 tsp Saffron *Note
Instructions:
Instructions: *NOTE: Original recipe used 1 tsp turmeric

1. Put everything into a pot and then bring to a gentle boil.

2. Simmer for 1 1/4 hours, stirring occasionally.

3. Serve with bread and salad.

Makes 8 cups.

** Variations
**

Fry the onions, in the oil, before putting them in the pot. Add 1 cup of cooked chick peas or red kidney beans, a few minutes before serving.

NOTES : This was very, very good...quick to put together.
