Instructions: Preheat broiler. Break off asparagus ends at the point where the stems snap easily; discard ends. Cut asparagus into 2-inch lengths.
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add green onions and garlic; cook 2 to 3 minutes, or until softened. Add asparagus, bell pepper, and salt. Cover and cook 5 minutes, or until asparagus is just tender. Spoon into a broiler-safe casserole dish. Stir together bread crumbs and cheese and sprinkle over the asparagus mixture.
