Instructions: Bring oil, sugar cold water, raisins and spices to a boil. Let the mixture cool completely.

Preheat oven to 375 .

Mix the flour and baking soda together. Then add the cooled liquid to the flour mixture. Mix.

Then add walnuts, cherries and the fruit. Mix.

Pour batter into buttered and floured pan.

Bake in oven for about 1 hour or until done.

Check by inserting toothpick, it is done when the toothpick is clean.

NOTES : This has been part of our familys Christmas for many years. Aunt June made this cake for my Dad, every year. When she passed away she asked if I would continue to bake this cake. I said Yes. So Georgia or Daniel when I cannot bake this cake no more, it will be up to you to keep the tradition.
