Ingredients:

4 x ripe pears, peeled, quartered, and cored
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
4 x eggs
2 cup half-and-half (or light cream)
2 tbl sugar
Sauce
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup dark corn syrup
1/2 cup half-and-half (or light cream)
2 tbl butter or margarine
Dash salt
Instructions:
Instructions: Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 2 1/2-quart shallow casserole. Arrange pears in prepared casserole. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine flour and 3/4 cup sugar. Add eggs; beat well.

Gradually add 2 cups half-and-half. Pour over pears; sprinkle with 2 tbs sugar. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. In medium saucepan, combine all sauce ingredients except vanilla. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly. Stir in vanilla. Serve caramel sauce over warm pear custard.

Yield: 8 to 10 servings.
