Instructions: Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In the large bowl of an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the mashed bananas to the batter, beating slowly after each addition. Stir in nuts, chocolate chips and wheat germ, if desired.

Spoon batter into prepared pan. Smooth top evenly; spread batter slightly toward pan edges.

Bake in center of preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
