Instructions: Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together into a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs until light; add to dry ingredients along with milk, melted butter and 1 cup sugar. Mix until batter is smooth. (If batter is too soft to handle, sprinkle in a little more flour but not enough to make a stiff mixture.) Turn onto a generously floured board and roll1/4inch thick. Cut with a floured doughnut cutter. Fry a few at a time in deep fat heated to 375 degrees F or until a 1 inch cube of bread browns in 1 minute. When nicely browned on both sides, drain doughnuts on paper towels. Sprinkle with sugar, if desired. May be successfully frozen. Email this Recipe:
