5 cup low-sodium fat-free chicken broth
1 cup dried lentils
1/2 med onion chopped
2 tbl brown sugar
2 tbl ketchup
2 tbl molasses
1 tbl prepared mustard - (to 2)
2 x bacon slices cooked, diced
Instructions:
Instructions: Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil in a Dutch oven. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 45 minutes or until lentils are tender. Stir in brown sugar and next 4 ingredients.

Spoon mixture into a 1-quart baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This recipe yields 3 cups. Recipe may be doubled. Freeze up to 3 months; thaw in refrigerator, and bake as directed.

Comments: Lentils are loaded with soluble fiber, a type that may reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering blood cholesterol levels.
