Instructions: Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt together. Cut in butter until consistency of coarse meal. Stir in milk to make a soft dough. Add currants and mix well. Divide dough in half and pat out each half on a floured board to 3/4-inch which. Cut with a 2-inch floured cookie cutter.
Bake on a greased baking sheet in a preheated 450F degree oven for 7 to 10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve hot with butter and assorted preserves or jellies. Email this Recipe:
