Yield:
600 ml
Ingredients:

40 gm butter
40 gm plain flour
600 ml hot milk
1 x salt and pepper
Instructions:
Instructions: Melt the butter in a saucepan add the flour and cook stirring for 1 minute.

Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the milk.

Return to the heat and cook stirring until thickened.

Simmer for 3 minutes.

Season with salt pepper and nutmeg to taste.

Makes about 600ml

NOTE: For additional flavour add a bay leaf to the milk before heating.

Remove before adding the milk to the sauce.
