Instructions: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
In a 9-inch pie plate, combine the ground beef, onion, salt, and pepper; mix well and form into a large hamburger patty. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and top with the cheese slices. Return to the oven and bake for 5 to 8 minutes, or until no pink remains in the ground beef and the cheese is melted. Place the lettuce leaves over the bottom half of the bread, then top with the burger. Replace the top of the bread, cut into wedges, and serve. This recipe yields 4 servings.
