Instructions: Peel, core and slice the apples into a pie dish, add the blackberries and sprinkle with sugar.
To make sponge: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, adding a little flour with the second egg. Fold in the remaining flour and cornflour. Spread sponge mixture over fruit. Bake in a moderate hot oven 190C/375F for 30 to 40 minutes. Sprinkle with a little caster sugar and serve hot with cream and custard. Email this Recipe:
