Instructions: For the flaming version of the Blue Blazer, use large, 16-ounce mixing tins or Pyrex pitchers with hefty handles, depending on the effect and mixing ease you desire. Mix 2 teaspoons honey with 4 ounces water; boil the mixture. Simmer - not boil - 4 ounces scotch in a saucepan or chaffing dish.
Once the water-and-honey mix and the scotch are ready, pour each into a mixing container. Make certain there is some fire-resistant covering over the mixing area before having someone ignite the scotch with a long fireplace match. Dim the lights, and begin "mixing" the Blazer by pouring each container into the other, until the flame burns out. Portion each drink into two thick cut-glass tumblers that wont crack from the Blazers heat. Drop a sugar cube into the drink, followed by a lemon zest. Let the Blazer cool slightly before drinking. Flaming the Blue Blazer is for show, not added taste. For a shortcut, follow the above instructions, but dont ignite the concoction or dim the lights. Email this Recipe:
