1 cup unsifted whole wheat flour
1 cup unsifted rye flour
1 cup corn meal
1 cup seeded raisins or 1 cup chopped walnut meats
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup molasses
Instructions:
Instructions: Combine all the dry ingredients. Stir in molasses and sour milk or buttermilk.

Fill a greased or oiled 2 qt covered brown bread or pudding mold or coffee can, 2/3 full then grease the cover. Cover closely. Set the mold on a rack

In a large kettle. Pour in boiling water to half the depth of mold. Cover tightly and steam 3 1/2 hours, keeping water boiling throughout entire cooking
period, and replenishing it with boiling water as needed. When done, remove from water, take off lid, run a spatula between the bread and mold to loosen it, then invert on a cake cooler. Serve hot. Leftovers can be cooled and re-warmed in a double-boiler.
