Instructions: Cream shortening. Add sugar and mix well. Add well-beaten egg, milk, bran, and corn-meal. Sift flour, measure, and sift with baking powder and salt. Add to first mixture, stirring only until well blended. Pour into well-oiled pans. Bake in moderate oven (400x F) 20 minutes. 12 bran sticks. Betty Parkinson, Michigan Center, MI.
