1 loaf French bread, cubed
4 cup milk
3 x eggs, beaten
2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup raisins
1 tbl pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter, melted
----------------- WHISKEY SAUCE ----------------
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar, (1/2 to 3/4)
1 x egg, beaten
Instructions:
Instructions: Preheat oven to 325 F.

Toast the bread cubes in the oven until lightly toasted. In a large bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, milk, eggs, sugar, raisins, and vanilla and mix together well.

Pour the melted butter into a casserole dish and add the milk mixture.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until set. Remove the baked custard and let stand for 5 minutes. Serve warm, topped with the Whiskey Sauce.

YIELD: 8 SERVINGS

Whiskey Sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in the sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved. Add 2 teaspoons of the hot sugar mixture to the beaten egg and blend well. Add the egg mixture to the sugar mixture and mix together well. Stir in the whiskey.
