Instructions: Heat the oven to 350 F. Lightly grease 2 large cookie sheets. In a large grease- free bowl, with an electric mixer at high speed, beat the egg whites, cream of tar- tar and salt until foamy. Beat in the sugar, a tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Add the vanilla. Gently fold in the melted chocolate and walnuts. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto the cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
