Instructions: Experimenting with a common chocolate cake recipe , we liked the results.
One can use all white granulated sugar instead of all brown sugar. The white sugar cake comes out darker in color and the texture is also a bit different. However both versions are very tasty. I did not use any baking soda in the Stir together the sugar and flour with cinnamon and baking powder in a large bowl and set aside. In a sauce pot add the melted butter or margarine , baking cocoa, oil and water and cook over medium heat and stir and bring to a full boil. Immediately remove from heat and pour over dry ingredients and beat on low speed to mix well. Add eggs, vanilla and buttermilk and mix well with mixer. Pour into a well greased large fluted Bundt pan. Bake 325F about 50 to 60 minutes or until top springs back and cake tester comes out with moist crumbs. Let cool in pan 15 minutes and invert and remove. Let cool completely. Chill covered overnight before serving. Sprinkle with powder sugar if desired. Freezes well. Note. if desired one may pour a chocolate icing over the cooled cake if desired. Email this Recipe:
