Instructions: Combine shortening and chocolate in a heavy saucepan. Place over low heat, stirring constantly until melted; cool. Combine egg, sugar, milk and vanilla in a bowl. Stir in chocolate mixture. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to chocolate mixture. Stir in 2/3 cup pecans. Preheat waffle iron at medium heat. Drop batter by level Tbsp onto iron spacing 2" apart. Sprinkle on reserved pecans. Close the lid and bake 3 minutes or until done. Remove cookies to a wire rack to cool.
