Instructions: Combine first four ingredients in a large bowl; cut in butter with a pastry blender or knife until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add buttermilk, stirring with a fork JUST UNTIL DRY INGREDIENTS ARE MOISTENED. Over-stirring makes a tough, heavy biscuit.
Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead LIGHTLY 3 or 4 times. Roll or pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness. (Melissa pats the dough.) Cut with a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Makes about 11/2 dozen. Email this Recipe:
