1/2 cup Shortening
1 cup Sugar
2 x Eggs well beaten
1/2 cup Flour sifted
1 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Allspice
1/2 tsp Cloves
3/4 cup Buttermilk
1/3 cup Seeded raisins
1/3 cup Dried currants
Instructions:
Instructions: Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix and sift dry ingredients, and add alternately with buttermilk. Stir in fruits and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 2 1/2-inch muffin pans, filling 2/3 full. Bake in preheated 375 degrees oven for about 25 minutes.
