2 jar caramel ice cream topping
5 med yellow apples up to 6
1/2 cup pecans chopped fine
4 tbl cornstarch
1/2 cup sugar or brown sugar
2 tbl butter
PASTRY
1/2 cup butter flavored shortening plus 3 TBSP
1/3 cup flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 x egg white
2 tbl lemon juice
3 tbl cold water
CRUST TOPPING
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 stk butter or oleo
Instructions:
Instructions: FILLING - In saucepan, combine caramel topping, pecans, cornstarch, sugar & butter; cook over medium to low heat until thick. Prepare crust and crumb topping. In large bowl, peel, core & slice apples; add caramel topping, mix well. Pour into prepared crust, add crumb topping. Bake at 350 degrees until apples are done.

PASTRY - Cut shortening into flour & salt until fine particles are formed. Mix together water, lemon juice & egg white. Add a tablespoon at a time to flour mixture until dough is formed & almost cleans side of bowl. Turn out on a floured pastry cloth & roll to fit a 10" deep dish pie pan. Place crust into pie pan, trim & flute edges. Fill with filling & bake as direct.

CRUST TOPPING - Cut ingredients together until pea size crumbs. Sprinkle over top of pie.
