Instructions: FILLING - In saucepan, combine caramel topping, pecans, cornstarch, sugar & butter; cook over medium to low heat until thick. Prepare crust and crumb topping. In large bowl, peel, core & slice apples; add caramel topping, mix well. Pour into prepared crust, add crumb topping. Bake at 350 degrees until apples are done.
PASTRY - Cut shortening into flour & salt until fine particles are formed. Mix together water, lemon juice & egg white. Add a tablespoon at a time to flour mixture until dough is formed & almost cleans side of bowl. Turn out on a floured pastry cloth & roll to fit a 10" deep dish pie pan. Place crust into pie pan, trim & flute edges. Fill with filling & bake as direct. CRUST TOPPING - Cut ingredients together until pea size crumbs. Sprinkle over top of pie. Email this Recipe:
