1 kg Green Gooseberries or apples - (2 lb)
1/2 x tea Cayenne Pepper
1 whl ginger chopped and pounded
1 kg Brown Sugar -- (2 lbs.)
500 gm Raisins -- (1 lb.)
50 gm Salt -- (2 ozs.)
500 gm Dates -- (1 lb.)
Vinegar
Instructions:
Instructions: Put apples chopped but not peeled and cored in preserving pan. Cover with vinegar. Cook until soft then add remainder of ingredients. Boil half an hour. Put into bottles, cover, and keep twelve months before using.
