Instructions: Cook broccoli and cauliflower until tender crisp by steaming in a saucepan or in the microwave. Immediately rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Drain well. Spread in a 9 x 13" casserole dish. Set aside.
In a small saucepan melt the butter over medium heat. Cook chopped onion in melted butter for 3 - 4 minutes, just until tender. Stir in flour. Add milk, stir until smooth and thickened. Add salt & pepper. Drizzle over vegetables. Combine bread crumbs and grated cheese, sprinkle evenly over all. Bake at 350 F for 20 to 25 minutes. Secret for Success: To steam vegetables in the microwave: wash and then place in a microwave-safe dish. Dont add water, the moisture on the vegetables is enough to steam them.
