Instructions: Snap off tough ends of asparagus. Remove scales. Cut spears into 1-inch pieces. Arrange in a steamer basket over boiling water. Cover and steam 3 minutes. Drain.
Cook pasta according to package directions, omitting salt and fat. Drain; keep warm. Melt margarine in a nonstick skillet. Add garlic; saute 30 seconds. Add flour; cook, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Add broth and milk, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Add asparagus, ham, cheese, and pepper, stirring until cheese melts. Stir in warm pasta, and serve immediately. Yield: 2 (1-1/4-cup) servings. NOTES : Email this Recipe:
