Instructions: Preheat oven to 350:. Combine flour, salt, chili powder and pepper. Trim any excess fat from meat, sprinkle mixture into meat, sprinkle mixture into meat and pound into it. Turn and repeat on the other side. In large skillet in hot shortening brown meat well on both sides; remove meat from skillet. In drippings brown onions; stir in remaining flour mixture. In large shallow casserole spoon onion mixture. Arrange steaks on top; then add tomatoes and their liquid. Cover and bake 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
Spoon any fat from casserole. Sprinkle steaks with cheese, heat 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve as is or over rice. Jan Email this Recipe:
