Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Lightly grease baking sheet with butter.
In a large bowl, with an electric mixer on medium speed, beat butter, 3/4 cup of the sugar, egg, water, baking powder, and almond extract until well-blended. Gradually add flour, blending on low speed until well mixed. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, on baking sheets. Sprinkle remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar equally over dough mounds and, using the bottom of a glass, flatten each cookie. Press whole almond firmly into the center of each cookie. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes, or until firm to the touch but not brown. Immediately remove from baking sheets and let cool on wire racks. Email this Recipe:
