Yield:
48 candies
Ingredients:
Amount Ingredient
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup light corn syrup
14 oz condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 lb pecans
12 oz milk chocolate chips
Instructions:
Instructions: In large saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Gradually add sweetened condensed milk and mix well. Continue cooking until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees (firm ball stage). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, mixing until blended. Fold in pecans. Drop by tablespoons onto 4 buttered cookie sheets (about 2 tablespoons per turtle) and chill until firm. Once firm, melt chocolate chips and shortening together. Drizzle chocolate over each cluster. Chill.

(This recipe is doable, but may not always come out right. I have managed to make it work and taste wonderful, but I have also managed to have it not quite work and still taste delicious, just the texture of the caramel is harder.)
