Instructions: Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and sift together three times.
Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar gradually, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add vanilla. Fold in egg whites. Combine chocolate, sugar and soda, and water, and add to 1/3 of cake batter. Place light and dark mixtures alternately, a tablespoon a time, in greased loaf or tube pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 55 minutes, or until done. Email this Recipe:
