Ingredients:

4 x (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup shortening
2 cup sugar
2 x eggs
1/3 cup corn syrup
1/2 tbl water
2 tsp peppermint extract
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Instructions:
Instructions: Melt chocolate over hot water in top of double boiler. Remove from heat.

Cream shortening; gradually add 2 cups sugar, beating until light and fluffy.

Add melted chocolate, eggs, corn syrup, water, and flavorings; mix well. Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture, beating just until blended. Shape dough into 1 inch balls, and roll in remaining sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheets; bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheets 5 minutes.

Remove to wire racks, and cool completely.

Yield: 10 1/2 dozen.
