1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3 tbl oil
1/4 cup milk
1 x egg
1 tbl grated orange peel
10 oz mild chutney
1 cup chopped nuts
----------------- CURRIED CHEESE SPREAD ----------------
2 lb cream cheese softened
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp curry powder
Instructions:
Instructions: Combine the flour, sugars, baking powder, salt, oil, milk, egg, and orange peel in a mixing bowl. Beat 30 seconds. Add the chutney and nuts. Mix lightly, do not overmix.

Turn into a greased (bottom only) 9 x 5-inch loaf or 9-inch tube pan and bake at 350F degrees for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool slightly. Loosen the sides of the pan and remove the bread. Cool before serving.

Serve with the curried cheese spread.

CURRIED CHEESE SPREAD: (OPTIONAL) Beat the cream cheese with the sugar, curry powder, and salt just until blended.

MAKES 1 CUP

NOTES : Tea Bread; freezes well.
