Instructions: Cream butter and sugar until pale in colour. Mix in egg. Add the milk and flour alternately, 1/3 at a time, mixing lightly between each addition.

Spoon into a greased 20cm cake tin and bake 190C/380F for about 30 minutes.

Remove from cake tin onto a wire rack, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with combined cinnamon and sugar.

Serve with afternoon tea.
