Instructions: Salt and put a bag of ice (8 lbs) over sliced cukes in a cooler. Let stand at least 3 hours or better, overnight. Drain. Combine rest of ingredients with to the cucumbers. Put in an open kettle and bring to a boil. Boil for three minutes, stirring constantly to keep sugar from sticking and burning. Remove from heat and ladle pickles and syrup into hot sterilized jars and seal immediately.
