Instructions: Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch and Salt in saucepan. Stir in milk. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 1 minute, Stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir Small amount of hot mixture into egg yolks. Stir egg yolks into hot mixture. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in 3/4 cup coconut, 1/4 cup pecans and vanilla. Spoon into pie shell. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in mixer Fowl until soft peaks form. Add 2 tablespoons sugar gradually, beating constantly until stiff peaks form. Spread over filling, sealing to edge. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup pecans and 1/4 cup coconut.
