1 cup Cold Tea
4 oz butter
1 cup mixed sultanas and currents
1 cup dates, chopped
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2 cup self-rising flour, sifted
1 tsp mixed spices (optional)
Instructions:
Instructions: Put tea, butter, fruit and sugar in a saucepan over low heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Simmer for three minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool.

Stir in flour and baking soda, mixing thoroughly. Put in a greased, floured loaf pan and bake in a 350 degree oven for approximately 1 hour, or until cake tester comes out clean.
