2 tbl shortening
2 lb stew meat
2 x onions, sliced
1 cup water
2 lrg potatoes, thinly sliced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions:
Instructions: Melt shortening and cook meat and onion in it until meat is brown and onion tender. Add water; heat to boiling. Cover and simmer 50 minutes.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Pour meat mixture into ungreased baking dish; put potatoes on meat. Stir together soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper; pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and potato chips. Bake for 1 1/2 hours.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
