Instructions: Soften 3/4 cup butter and cream with 1 cup brown sugar, then beat in an egg. In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients: 1 1/2 cup flour, 1 teaspoon each cinnamon and nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
Add these to butter mixture, one half at a time, stirring well. Chill dough until firm and workable, then form into balls the size of walnuts. Place on greased and floured cookie sheet and press cookies flat with a small glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, until edges are golden brown. Cool on cookie sheets 6 minutes, then finish cooling on racks. Email this Recipe:
